The 43rd Avenue Winter Art Scene!

This past Friday evening we had a little* snowstorm (*compared to what is in the forecast for today). The storm brought enough snow to cover the litter and dog crap, so on Saturday morning the neighborhood looked clean- even beautiful. But I soon discovered that winter storms also spark the creativity of our 43rd Avenue artist(s?). Several new tags were added that night (Friday, 1/23 into Saturday, 1/24).

New graffiti added to a private property on Jan. 23-24, 2015 (overnight sometime). The red graffiti in the background is from July 4. My husband and some neighbors painted over this new graffiti yesterday afternoon.

Graffiti added to the FRONT door of the empty building on the corner. Well, at least now the front and back doors match.

These morons even marked up the sign on the overpass. Fortunately this shiny surface (along with the marble on the side of the empty corner house) wipes clean with a little alcohol and a lot of elbow grease.

It was sad to see graffiti on the 43rd Street overpass. The kids of the Woodside Neighborhood Association spent hours painting this overpass last October.
Are they mad at UPS? Or indicating to UPS that this is their preferred drop off location?

I knew that graffiti on the blue construction fence was inevitable. It stood graffiti-free for a little over 3 months, which I think is some sort of record around here. Still, when the graffiti artist did strike, I couldn't help but be disappointed. And angry. And confused. I just ask myself the same question: why would someone want to make their neighborhood look ugly??
Construction fence between 72nd and 74th, with graffiti added this past Friday night :o(
My husband and a neighbor painted over this yesterday afternoon.
