Frigid weather doesn't stop the fun

~~January 16, 2015~~

Thankfully there has not been any major (ie, 311-worthy) dumping lately. [**knock on wood...well, formica**] But I haven't visited 43rd Avenue in a couple days, so I don't know what awaits. I've just been collecting litter on my way to the train every morning. Sometimes when I'm leaving the house I stupidly think that there's no need to bring a bag with me to walk the two-and-a-half blocks to the train. But alas, I have never not been able to fill a shopping bag with litter. In fact, I usually fill the first bag by the time I reach the end of the first block. Thenceforward (is that a real word?), I use a bag that's flying around the street, or, if I'm running late, I will just force myself to ignore the litter and walk with imaginary blinders the rest of the way to the train.

Some of the litter collected on 74th Street between Woodside Ave and 41st Ave this morning.
This was actually the 2nd bag; I filled the first one just walking between 43rd and Woodside.
Fortunately I found this rather large clear recycling bag blowin' in the wind.

Typical collection of mini booze bottles in the gutters of 74th Street;
 the closer you get to Roosevelt, the more of these you'll see.

Looks like someone chugged one bottle of Georgi too many!

Someone left this mini bag of dried green stuff in front of a dwelling on 74th Street.
Maybe this person really likes oregano and had packed a baggy to sprinkle over a
slice of pizza at lunch because they don't like the cheap stuff that the pizzeria offers. Yeah, that must be it!
(Oh, who cares, I don't think this is even considered illegal anymore under the reign of Wilhelm.)
